FORT WORTH, Texas — Haley Van Lith, who committed to LSU last season and reached the Elite Eight with the defending national champions before losing to Caitlin Clark and Iowa, is heading into her fifth and final season. Transferred to TCU.
Van Lith spent his first three seasons at Louisville, reaching the Final Four and then the Elite Eight before deciding to join four-time championship coach Kim Mulkey’s team at LSU. TCU announced the decision Friday.
The guard averaged 14.5 points, 4 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game for the Cardinals and Tigers. She played primarily as a wing at Louisville and then transitioned to point guard for Mulkey’s team.
Van Lith joins a TCU program that finished in the AP Top 25 this season before the Horned Frogs were forced to sit out two games due to injury and held open tryouts to strengthen their roster.
TCU started 13-0, including a win over BYU in the Big 12 Conference opener, but dropped two games and lost six straight. The Horned Frogs finished 21-12 and 6-12 in the Big 12 under second-year coach Mark Campbell.
Van Lith, a native of Wenahatee, Wash., is the only active Division I player to record at least 1,900 points, 500 rebounds and 350 assists.
Van Lith, a graduate student, is also active with USA Basketball and is one of the candidates for the 3×3 national team that will compete in this summer’s Paris Olympics.
