May is Small Business Month, and the Burlington County Commission is partnering with the Burlington County Bridge Commission’s Office of Economic Development to help connect local businesses to critical services, resources and networking.
The Commissioners and Bridge Committee will hold the 2nd Annual Burlington County Small Business Resource Fair on Wednesday, May 15, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Burlington County Human Services Building, 795 Wood Lane Road, West Stampton. Masu. During the free event, business owners, executives, and entrepreneurs can meet and connect with representatives from more than a dozen state, county, and local agencies and organizations.
Participants include the New Jersey Economic Development Authority, New Jersey Business Action Center, New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Burlington County Workforce Development Board, Burlington County Regional Chamber of Commerce, Burlington County Library System, and Rowan Burlington County, Africa. It is expected that universities will be included. American Chamber of Commerce, New Jersey Small Business Development Center, CBAC, ABCO Federal Credit Union, Public Service Electric and Gas, Camden County ARC, UCEDC, and others.
“Small businesses are essential to Burlington County’s economy and communities. When small businesses succeed, we all benefit,” said Felicia Hopson, Burlington County Commissioner and Director of Economic Development. “Partnering with the Bridge Commission and the Department of Economic Development to host the Small Business Resource Fair is one example of how we are helping small businesses in our county grow and thrive.”
Burlington County Bridge Commission Chairman Matt Riggins said the event provides a low-pressure forum for business owners to network and learn about programs and resources that can help their businesses.
“More than 100 business owners attended last year’s inaugural Small Business Resource Fair and raved about the opportunity to meet and interact with representatives from organizations such as the Department of Labor, the Business Action Center, and the Burlington County Workforce Development Board. There aren’t many,” Riggins said. “We hope this year’s expo will provide even more great opportunities for both new and long-time business owners.”

In addition to the Small Business Resource Fair, the County Bridge Commission will host a business-to-business social networking event at Spritz Bar and Grill on Route 73 in Maple Shade on June 11th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. It will be held. This free event provides local business owners an additional opportunity to network and meet with local officials and leaders in an informal setting.
The Commissioners and the Bridge Committee are partnering to create a small business workshop series. Free classes and seminars cover topics such as tax preparation, obtaining financing, social media and marketing, and creating a business plan.
Seven workshops were held in 2023, and seven more were held earlier this year.
“Burlington County has created a business-friendly atmosphere where business owners can benefit from free programs and seminars designed to make a difference,” Hopson said. “We are proud of our county’s track record and continue to look for new ways to help both new and existing businesses succeed.”
State Sen. Troy Singleton praised the commissioners and the bridge commission for prioritizing the needs of small businesses.
“I am proud to live in a county with leaders who are so sensitive to the needs of small business owners and their employees,” said Sen. Singleton. “Our upcoming small business resource fair and business-to-business social networking events will provide great opportunities for business owners to meet, connect, ask questions and learn about helpful state and county programs.”
