Apple will launch the iPhone 16 series in mid-September, and we already know almost everything there is to know about the new devices. You can still expect surprises when it comes to the software running on new iPhone models. But the design Apple will use for its Pro and non-Pro models has almost certainly been finalized.
Design details have been leaked repeatedly over the past few months, giving us a fairly complete picture. Then, the first of his iPhone 16 mockups started appearing online. These are dummy units used by accessory manufacturers to make cases and screen protectors for the next generation of iPhones.
This leads to the iPhone 16 design concept shown below. This is the closest thing to an actual video of the next iPhone generation. As you’ll see, this clip gets a lot of the details right. So these are in line with the iPhone 16 rumors and give us a general idea of what Apple’s new iPhone will be like. However, there are also some mistakes in this concept, so I will explain all the mistakes of the designers.
creator 4RMD posted the following “introduction trailer” for the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus on YouTube. If you’ve been following iPhone 16 rumors, it’s easy to distinguish details that match leaks from wishful thinking.
Designers get a lot of things right. The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus look just like their predecessors. It features an all-screen design with a dynamic island at the top. However, the screen size will not increase.
We couldn’t expect a 6.2-inch screen on the iPhone 16 model. Maintains current 6.1 inch size. The iPhone 16 Pro’s display will be enlarged to 6.3 inches. Also, only the Pro has slim bezels. Regular iPhone 16 and 16 Plus should have standard bezels.
As for the features of the iPhone 16’s OLED panel, the concept video states that the handset will have a 90Hz refresh rate. I don’t think Apple will do that. Instead, a 60Hz refresh rate is maintained. All iPhones will eventually support ProMotion (120Hz refresh rate), but this is currently limited to Pro models only.
The sides of the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will be made of aluminum instead of titanium. 4RMD I suggest. Titanium will probably remain a professional-only product. However, the phone will likely feature a vertical camera module that supports aerial photography.
The clip also shows the iPhone 16 in a variety of muted colors. We’ll likely know the actual iPhone 16 color options by the time Apple unveils this series.
The concept image also shows the action button on the left side of the iPhone 16. According to all rumors, this button, which Apple introduced with the iPhone 15 Pro, will be coming to all new iPhones this year. However, the rendering is missing important button details. There should be a new capture button on the right side. The same rumor claims that Apple will include a camera-centric capture button on all iPhone 16 models.
If the rumors are correct, all iPhone 16 smartphones should have a USB-C port on the bottom, and most of them should have larger battery capacities. But I wouldn’t be surprised if Apple stuck with the current charging speeds for the iPhone 16 series. This means up to 20W for wired charging and up to 30W unofficially.
Finally, the concept clip also says that the iPhone 16 will feature new AI features and the A18 chip will enhance the experience. These claims are consistent with recent reports. We’ll likely see many of the generative AI features coming to iOS 18 when Apple unveils the iPhone’s next OS at WWDC next month.
As for the iPhone 16 chips, Apple is rumored to use the A18 and A18 Pro chipsets for the non-Pro and Pro versions of the next iPhone generation.
