atlanta, georgia — U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff is working to strengthen emergency health care access for families in metro Atlanta.
Today, Senator Ossoff announced that he will provide federal resources to the Atlanta Regional Commission for an emergency medical transportation access study.
With several hospitals closing across metro Atlanta in recent years, this study aims to identify the greatest needs and help more families get the care they need. We plan to analyze disparities in access to emergency medical care.
Sen. Ossoff brought together Republicans and Democrats to provide $543,000 for the project through this year’s bipartisan government funding package.
“Many families in metro Atlanta fear not having immediate access to emergency medical care in times of crisis. That’s why I’m bringing Republicans and Democrats together to ensure that every family in metro Atlanta needs it most. We have accelerated efforts to provide access to emergency medical care.” Senator Ossoff said: “I would like to thank Mayor Andre Dickens and ARC Executive Director and CEO Anna Roach for bringing this proposal to my office and their leadership in the community.”
“We know that access to health care in the Atlanta region varies widely by zip code. It’s time to take action to address these disparities.” ARC Board President and Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens said. “This study is an important first step in providing the hard data needed to make informed decisions that can save lives.”
“No matter where people live, it is critical that they have adequate access to emergency medical services. When a health emergency such as a heart attack or stroke occurs, every minute counts. It is literally life or death. It is an issue related to ARC Executive Director and CEO Anna Roach said:
