Nintendo fans have been clamoring for information on the Switch’s successor for months now, and the news has been heating up this week, all thanks to Nintendo’s announcement that it will release the first official details about the hardware later this year.
While we wait for Nintendo to release the first real details, industry insiders and enthusiasts have been cruising the internet trying to figure out all the information about this hardware. This brings us to the latest rumors that we think will give us some insight into the platform’s specifications.
Some incredibly avid Nintendo fans are going to the trouble of tracking shipping and customs data between Nintendo, NVIDIA, and other companies to glean details about the upcoming Switch. Those efforts may have paid off recently, as the tracking information returned the following technical details:
- 12 GB RAM (2 x 6 GB 7500 MT/s LPDDR5 modules)
- 256 GB UFS 3.1 internal storage
- built-in microphone
- The RAM is specifically LPDDR5X
As usual, nothing is confirmed until Nintendo does so. With that in mind, the sources behind this information should assume that the information itself is at least somewhat reliable. Nintendo never shares technical specs for its platforms, so we won’t know if this leak is real until we get our hands on the hardware.
