When companies ship frozen or refrigerated products, they have one major goal: to ensure that the products are still frozen or refrigerated when they arrive at their destination. One Plano-based company has launched an entirely new division to ensure this happens, even if shipping takes more than a week.
Candor Expedite, a transportation company focused on time-sensitive transportation, today announced its expansion with the launch of an “innovation-driven” cold chain division called Candor Food Chain.
The new division combines the company’s national delivery service with “proprietary technology,” with a fully reusable refrigerated packaging solution that allows pallet- and box-sized frozen and refrigerated cargo to be “sent via regular transportation. It can be kept frozen or refrigerated for up to 9 days. ”
Partnering with Europe-based Cool Chain on innovative technology
Candor Food Chain said it was the first U.S. company to implement this technology exclusively through a partnership with Cool Chain, a European technology provider that has been working with pharmaceutical companies for more than a decade.
“We have seen first-hand the challenges that shippers face in the frozen and refrigerated market. In addition to issues such as product damage and late deliveries, overspending is alarming,” said Candor Expedit founder. Nicole Glenn, CEO and Chief Executive Officer, said in a statement. “We are excited to bring this new and unique technology to the food industry that reduces costs, eliminates complaints and provides real-time temperature and location monitoring.”
Glenn founded Candor Expedite in 2017. The company also has offices in Joliet, Illinois and Kansas City, Kansas.
By consolidating the delivery of fresh and dry goods in one truck that can handle three different temperatures: frozen, refrigerated, and room temperature, food manufacturers, distributors, and retailers can reduce the cost of multiple deliveries across the United States. Candor Food Chain says:
According to the company, the new solution features:
- A “new bar” for temperature-controlled and responsible delivery. The temperature range is from 10 degrees to 70 degrees.
- Temperature readings and GPS tracking with live feed of product temperature and location.
- No dry ice required. The temperature of a certain size box or pallet can be maintained for up to 4 days for small boxes and 9 days for pallets.
- In addition to reducing carbon and refrigerant emissions, the boxes are reusable and contain no harmful toxins, the company said. It also requires no additional insulation or cardboard, which is often discarded. Dry ice can release dangerous carbon dioxide gas when it melts.
- All boxes/pallets are 100% reusable
- Human-Technology Ratio: Logistics experts are always on hand to monitor temperature changes and respond accordingly.
- Shippers can use any mode of transportation with food chain packaging, including from local distribution centers to stores. Regional; OTR functionality.
“Now that we have a way to save a lot of money, energy and packaging waste while being satisfied with meeting our environmental goals, Our customers feel like heroes.” “We are a proud women-owned company and valued by shippers who strive to achieve their diversity, equity and inclusion goals,” the statement added.
