Pierrefonds–Roxboro, Quebec, May 7, 2024 /CNW/ – Design competition for the adjacent public plaza Pierrefonds– Roxboro’s Water and recreation complexes will soon be launched across the country.
upon May 6ththe Borough Council has approved a proposal to award a detailed design contract for the development of this public plaza following a design competition.
A City and Town Code (RSQ, c. C-19) exemption request was filed with the Ministry of Municipalities and Habitat (MAMH) under Section 573.3.1. This would give the borough the power to award professional services contracts to winners of design competitions.
It was also tasked with developing the functional and technical parameters governing the design of future public squares.
Pierrefonds–Roxboro aims to encourage excellence in urban planning, landscape architecture and design throughout its territory. Through this competition, the borough hopes to create a special place that will become the center of community, culture and civic life in the area.
investment of about $4.5 million The first phase of the project is planned to be funded by the Capital Program for 10 years and will ultimately benefit all residents of the borough.

The future public plaza is scheduled for completion in 2028, after which Pierrefonds A library is expected to be built in 2019, Millennium Park will be developed in fall 2022, and construction of the Pierrefonds Roxboro Aquatic Complex is scheduled to be completed in spring 2026.
The new development will also strengthen the mission and appeal of what is central to the borough’s identity and project connections.
