Pact has won the circular economy award at this year’s Australian Chemical Industry Awards for its plans to recycle the equivalent of 500 million used milk bottles a year and turn them into new milk bottles and other packaging.
prestigious circular economy award.
Used milk bottles and other dairy containers will be collected from household recycling bins and processed at the agreement-operated Circular Plastics Australia (CPA) mixed plastics recycling plant in the Melbourne suburb of Laverton.
The CPA facility, a joint venture with Cleanaway Waste Management, opened earlier this year and will be able to recycle up to 20,000 tonnes of used high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and polypropylene (PP) packaging material annually at full capacity. This is equivalent to approximately 500 million 2L milk bottles.
Recycled resin is used at our packaging manufacturing facilities in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. The facility is being renovated to increase the amount of recycled content used in the production of HDPE milk bottles and significantly reduce the need for virgin plastic.
Congratulations to the team at the CPA Recycling Plant and all the packaging manufacturing teams producing milk bottles at facilities across Australia.
Sales manager Jeff Harvey accepts the award.
Pact’s sales team and customers enjoy the evening.
