Textual description provided by the architect. Unprocessed concrete and naturally crumbling walls are treasures left behind in a wild and free industrial area, and their continuation and protection is the central concept of their treatment. While preserving the original walls, the use of metal and cement-like materials and retro lighting fixtures enhances the unity of the modern furniture and site. Local military green is naturally decorated, reinforcing the recognition of brand elements. A small amount of industrial pipeline left on the site can be used to create an excellent lighting fixture.
The new design of the air duct ceiling combines the site’s original red staircase with a silver-white paint job that reflects a modern metallic sheen in the air. The ground bar continues the sense of weight of the site’s concrete material, and its curved direction echoes up and down the ceiling.
When you stand inside, you can experience the sparks created when two materials collide. Renovation work many years ago left irregular openings in the sides of the site, exposing rebar and creating uneven cross-sections. Perfect as a side door that combines industrial ruins with commercial fun.
The walls around the site are half a meter thick and have no windows, and the red staircase and industrial facilities above cover the entire courtyard, blocking most of the sunlight. Considering Shenzhen’s rainy climate and the need to maximize the preservation of precious natural light in the courtyard gap, we used steel structure and transparent durable panels, and created a transparent large skylight roof through reasonable mechanical calculations. I did.
In Hegel’s view, the spirit of an age is a positive force that can not only shape the temperament and character of a particular society or civilization, but also define its place in the cultural process of human society. Currently, the architectural function of the site is transitioning from an industrial facility to a commercial and social space. KUDDO COFFEE not only amplifies the charm of modern aesthetics in an industrial-era atmosphere, but also makes industrial aesthetics a showcase of modern urban spirit.
