After months of speculation and waiting, YG Entertainment has officially announced the renewal of BLACKPINK’s group contract with the label. This news indicates that the group has successfully continued into its eighth year, effectively breaking the seven-year jinx common in South Korea.
Although the group has renewed its collective contract, individual contract negotiations with members Rose, Jenny, Lisa, and Jisoo are still ongoing. In a statement, the label expressed its satisfaction, saying, “We are pleased that the board of directors has confirmed the conclusion of exclusive group contracts for all four BLACKPINK members.”
They added, “BLACKPINK will continue to do their best to shine even brighter in the global music market as artists representing K-Pop, and we will have our unwavering support and trust in their actions.”
According to the announcement, their contracts expired in August and the members renewed their contracts in December. Both YG Entertainment and his BLACKPINK have won many awards and achievements. The group made its final comeback with “Born Pink,” which broke all records.
Since their debut in 2016, BLACKPINK has emerged as the world’s leading K-POP girl group. In addition to their collective success, individual members have also launched solo music projects that have received widespread acclaim.
