As expected, Harford Institute of Technology won both the men’s and women’s titles at the UCBAC Chesapeake Sectional Track and Field Championships in Edgewood on Thursday. This was the 11th time they won the women’s division and the fourth time they won the men’s division.
The women’s team won eight events, beating out the other seven teams by a wide margin. The boys team won six events, but had to worry about Bel Air and Edgewood. Edgewood also won six games in the boys competition. Final scores for the top three boys teams: Tech 177, Bel Air 169, Edgewood 126.
Madisen Morgan led the Tech women’s team with three wins in the 100 meter dash (12.85 points), long jump (15.8 points) and triple jump (35-3 points). Winter Evans won double titles in the 100 hurdles (14.99 points) and high jump (4-8). Destiny Baker (44.81 points) won the 300 hurdles and Destiny Boyd (26.91 points) won the 200-meter dash. The 4×200 team won in 1:52.93.
For the technical boys, Justin Febles and Corey Levy won double wins, with Febles winning the 100 hurdles (11.08) and 200 hurdles (22.30), and Levy winning the 110 hurdles (15.21) and 300 hurdles (40 seconds). 33) won.
Tech’s Alex Wockenfuss set a new school record by winning the 400 meters in 49.71 seconds. This was the first of two school records he set that week. On Friday, he won the Maverick Madness 800m race in Manchester Valley with a time of 1:57.6. Robert Bonhoff won the pole vault with a score of 11-6.
Patterson Mill was second and Bel Air was third in girls’ points.
Huskies’ Leila Solas won the 400m in 1:00.44. Gianna Dawson of Bel Air won her first sub-2:20 800m in 2:19.13. Collin Sims of North Harford won the pole vault 9-0, and Mallory McCartney won the 1,600 meters in 5:42.64.
The Edgewood boys’ sixth win came from Darian Walters in the 1,600 meters (4:41.05). Evan Oldewater, 3,200 (10:37.28). Jacob Martin, long jump (21-0); Three relays: 4×100 (43.71), 4×200 (1:32.33), and his 4×800 (4:28.93). For the Edgewood girls, Brielle Whitworth won the 3,200 meters in 1:22.32.
At Bel Air, Cody Bazemore won the triple jump (42-9) and Charles Hammond won the 800-meter jump (2:03.07). Bel Air won the boys 4×400 (3:35.63), girls 4×400 (4:23.27) and girls 4×800 (10:03.06). For the girls, Patterson Mill won the 4×100 (52.09).
