GRAND RAPIDS, MI — A new economic impact study conducted by the Gerald R. Ford International Airport Authority in collaboration with Grand Valley State University shows that the airport’s influence in the region generates $7.7 billion in annual economic activity. It became clear.
Additionally, the airport promotes economic growth and prosperity in the 13-county West Michigan region, resulting in 40,324 jobs, $10.3 million in fiscal impact, and $1.3 million in household income catalysis. Research shows that it does.

Breaking down the numbers further, the study found that travelers using Ford International Airport spend $637 million in direct annual spending, with an average daily spend of $161 per person. became. The study further stated that visitors to the West Michigan area stayed an average of 4.43 days.
Construction activity related to the airport is also high, with an average of 328 construction jobs carried out each year over the past five years.

The airport saw record passenger numbers in 2023, with approximately 4 million people using the facility. It is also ranked as one of the fastest growing airports in the United States by the Federal Aviation Administration and was recently named the nation’s best small airport by USA TODAY.
