Officers from MPD’s Organized Crime Unit and Mount Moriah Task Force executed a search warrant and arrested 12 people at 3896 Lamar Street.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Police Department’s Organized Crime Unit began an investigation after receiving information on March 5, 2024 that drugs were being sold at the Economy Hotel.
The Metropolitan Police Department shared that detectives obtained probable cause search warrants for three rooms in the hotel at 3896 Lamar Avenue, rooms 215, 217 and 231.
According to a Shelby County Sheriff’s Office affidavit, on April 25, 2024, around 1 p.m., officers from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Organized Crime Unit and Mount Moriah Task Force searched the Economy Inn, 3896 Lamar Avenue. The warrant was executed.
There, detectives found several duffel bags, loose firearms and drugs. MPD said detectives recovered and seized the following during his search warrant:
Methamphetamine – 35.1 grams
In addition to $5,323, 21 firearms, two of which were reported stolen, were also reportedly seized.
Three suspects were taken into custody, according to the affidavit. Dwayne Dukes was identified as the subject of the warrant, but Morgan Matheson and Delisha Lovelady were also found inside the hotel.
Dukes and Matheson are each charged with 53 drug-related charges, and Lovelady is charged with 40 drug-related charges.
They are all scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
