Four health and education events will be offered this year. The May 15th and May 17th wellness events will be in-person and space is limited. Advance registration is required.

UNMC College of Nursing and Olson Center Webinar on Food Insecurity in Nebraska
Natalia Santos of the UNMC College of Public Health School of Health Promotion will host an online webinar, “Exploring the Topic of Food Insecurity in Nebraska,” at noon.
Food insecurity affects 37 million Americans and 2.2 million households in rural areas. This presentation is designed to introduce participants to the concept of food insecurity and how it affects Nebraskans.

Becoming Healthy Through Action: Cake Decorating 101
Emma Freedman, owner of Freedman Baking Company, teaches you the basics of cake decorating. With basic buttercream decorating skills, you too can impress your friends and family with beautiful cakes.
This class is held in the Olson Center classroom from 3:00pm to 4:30pm and costs $40. Participants will be able to take home basic decorating tools and a beautiful cake that they have decorated themselves. Space is limited.

stroke and women
Stroke affects women differently than men, with women having a higher lifetime risk of suffering a stroke and worse outcomes. Marco Gonzalez-Castellon, M.D., a vascular neurologist in the UNMC Department of Neuroscience and medical director of the Nebraska Medicine Telestroke Program, explains the risk factors that contribute to this increased risk and interventions that can help prevent stroke.
