Cardi B is trying to set the record straight.
Windsen’s Sengsen Lee, the designer behind the stunning black dress at the 2024 Met Gala, was called “Asian and all” instead of her name in an interview at the event. trendthe 31-year-old rapper explained on Instagram.
“First of all, when I was on the red carpet, I was so scared,” the Grammy-winning MC explained in an expired post shared by TMZ.
“The dress was going to be on a small podium, so I was practicing how to pose on a podium. But on the carpet they weren’t allowed to use the podium. So I had a lot in my head. ‘ and I was being rushed to the front of the line.

“I thought, ‘Damn,’ and I was confused about how to pronounce his name,” she added. “I didn’t want to be offensive,” she said, adding, “I knew the designer was Asian, but I didn’t know what nationality he was, so he called me an ‘Asian designer.’ I said,” he explained.
According to Billboard, some of the backlash Cardi received came from: trendGilbert Chia, former managing director of He called her out in the comments section of her Instagram reel at the event.
“For the record and publicity’s sake, no thanks to Cardi B, but the designer of her dress is Chinese, Sensen Li. It took two months to make this dress. Personally, I think it’s boring and doesn’t fit the theme, but she chose it so she should have done it.” At least she remembered his name, not just that he was “Asian.” ” wrote Chia. The musician addressed the backlash in his post, saying, “You’re trying to piss me off, but you’re actually pissing people off behind the scenes.”
Cardi also confirmed that she was clear about her feelings about the situation by later sharing a video of herself posing in the dress. X (old Twitter) and Instagram. “I have to thank you again Windsen Bai Sengsen Lee!!! I chose you because of your amazing talent and you really made this Met Gala a night to remember. ” she wrote.
The same video was shared on Windsen’s Instagram account, along with a caption explaining the inspiration behind the dress.
