On Tuesday night in Atlanta, he led the Tigers to victory with a three-run hit in the top of the fifth inning.
The Auburn Tigers defeated the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 7-2, clinching the season series victory between the two teams.
The Yellow Jackets struck first, scoring one run in the bottom of the first and third innings. The rest of the night at the plate was all Auburn.
Auburn scored on Cade Belyeu’s sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth, but took control after one inning.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Eric Guevara and Cooper Weiss hit back-to-back home runs, Caden Green reached on an error, and Chris Stanfield allowed a run.
Bellew extended Auburn’s lead in the top of the ninth inning with a three-run shot over the wall of the right field seats.
In this game, the Tigers showed a total team effort at the plate. They had seven hits, each by a different player.
Auburn also had a by-committee effort on the mound, with five pitchers appearing in the game.
Joseph Gonzalez started, but he lasted until the second inning. Ben Scholl pitched two innings, allowing one hit and one walk to two batters, and got the win. Christian Helberholz allowed one hit and one walk in the second inning, but struck out two batters and recorded a save.
Auburn is currently 23-24 on the season and 4-20 in SEC play.
The Tigers return to action this weekend for a road series against the Missouri Tigers. Game 1 is set for Friday at 6 PM CT, Game 2 on Saturday at 3 PM CT, and Game 3 on Sunday at 1 PM CT.
