Hapag Lloyd has partnered with Danish technology company ZeroNorth to launch a digital bunker procurement and planning solution.
Leading German liner company Hapag-Lloyd has partnered with Danish technology company Zero North to launch a fuel procurement and planning solution.
The partnership will see the two companies jointly develop digital solutions for Hapag-Lloyd aimed at the energy transition, reducing fuel costs and lowering service costs.
Zero North said the solution establishes a “new industry standard” in the digitization of end-to-end fuel planning and procurement, offering enhanced user experience and capabilities such as streamlined contract and port planning, contract bidding capabilities and true pricing algorithms, and is ready to be deployed immediately.
The partnership comes amid the continuing digitalisation of the fuel oil market, with technological advancements and increasing amounts of data ushering in a new era of more transparent fuel oil procurement decision-making.
Kenneth Jules, managing director at Zero North Bunker, said: “We are excited about this impactful partnership with Hapag-Lloyd, which will leverage the extensive knowledge and ambition of both organisations to transform the way companies approach bunker planning and procurement during the energy transition.”
Jan Christensen, senior director, global fuel procurement at Hapag-Lloyd, added: “We have a clear strategic direction to drive decarbonization across our fleet and operations. To make this happen, we need to find the right partner. We believe Zero North is ideally positioned to digitize our fuel procurement and planning activities.”
“Zero North has strong expertise, a proven track record in developing and operating industry-leading solutions, and a strong vision for the future of the fuel supply industry. We believe that by working together, we can have a meaningful impact on how fuel supply is planned and purchased – the biggest lever yet to realise our decarbonisation ambitions.”
