BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Institute of Technology’s weVENTURE Women’s Business Center will host a two-day, impactful and informative summit on July 15-16 showcasing the Space Coast’s innovation ecosystem and the unique resources available to high-tech innovators.
The Florida TechCelerator Summit is free to attend but requires registration, and will feature a variety of events, starting with an open house at the university’s Center for Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation Design (CAMID, pictured above) and a happy hour with ecosystem partner Groundswell Startups on July 15.
The event will kick off July 16 with a keynote address by Brevard entrepreneur Megan Wolfgram, founder and CEO of Swift Paws, Inc., followed by a panel discussion.
There will be talks on leveraging partnerships and diversifying the innovation ecosystem, as well as a business showcase where founders can present their companies and consider whether they might be considered for a weVENTURE WBC IMPCT grant or join the first cohort of the new Florida Techcelerator program.
The summit will conclude at the Gleason Performing Arts Center on the Florida Institute of Technology campus with a screening of “Show Her the Money,” a documentary that looks at the stark gender disparity in venture capital funding.
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion featuring the film’s producers, notable investors and female founders. The screening is open to the public and guests may choose to just attend the screening without participating in the full-day summit, but advance registration is required.
The summit came about because weVENTURE WBC recently won Phase I funding from the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 2024 Growth Accelerator Competition to support the university’s effective and inclusive approach to fostering a collaborative, nationwide innovation ecosystem to advance small business research and development from idea to market.
The two-day summit aims to strengthen ecosystem partnerships, highlight the unique resources available to Florida Tech and Space Coast high-tech innovators, engage mentors and investors, and identify the first group of founders for the Florida TechCelerator program.
The Techcelerator program, in conjunction with CAMID’s Design > Manufacturing > Coaching (DMMC) support, applies weVENTURE WBC’s proven IGNITE 360 methodology as business mentoring to high-tech innovative companies. By blending business expertise with engineering excellence, we can foster a more diverse and inclusive innovation ecosystem.
